Alexander Stewart was born around 1635. His place of birth is thought to be Kilmadock, Perthshire, Scotland. Alexander died on April 6, 1731. He married 1st, Hannah Templar, daughter of Richard Temple and Ann Prichard, on October 15, 1662 in Charlestown. Hannah Stewart was born January 5, 1643 in Barnstable, Massachusetts and died August 21, 1674 in Suffolk, Massachusetts. |

Alexander and Duncan Stewart were captured at the Battle of Dunbar and sent to America about 1652 on the ship "Unity". (Alexander Stewart, chief of a highland clan of pipers).

"Alexander, the 4th Invernahyle, married the only daughter of Duncan Stewart 5th Laird of Appin. They had twelve sons, who all came to the age of men , and went all on Sabbath to the church, along with their father, in kilted plaids and armed. Their names, so far as can be recollected , were in the following order: Donald,James, John Dhu, John More, George, Dugald, William, Alexander, Duncan and Allan."
