The information is per Ken Stuart-Anderson, who descends from Duncan Stewart, brother Of Alexander.
Ken's resources were:
Family resource - Dr. Solomon Stewart, born in Maine in 1837. "Mostly from family traditions," he states that Duncan Stewart and Alexander Stewart were brothers and came to America as prisoners in 1650. Information about Duncan and Alexander came from family oral accounts and was noted in Hannah Shaw's family Bible. Hannah was married to Wentworth Stuart I. Wentworth was the great-grandson of Duncan.
The Scottish registrar's office in Edinburgh says it its "generally assumed, but not conclusive", that Duncan and Alexander were the sons of Alexander Stewart, 4th of Invernahyle, b. 1600 in Scotland d. 1692. He married a daughter of Duncan Stewart, 7th of Appin. Children of this marriage: Donald, James, John Dhu, George, John More, Dugald, William, Duncan , Alexander (B. 1635, Kilmadock, Perthshire, Scotland) Allen, Janet.
There is a paper, "The Stewarts of Invernahyle and A Portion of their descendants" by a Mr. Train, Castle Douglas who copied it from a manuscript in the possession of Dr. Thompson of Appin. ----- and excerpt from it: "Alexander, the fourth Invernahyle ,married ----- Stewart, only daughter of Duncan Stewart fifth Laird of Appin, and had issue twelve sons, who all came to the age of men, and went all one Sabbath to the church, along with their father, in kilted plaids and armed. Their names, so far as can be recollected, were in the following order: Donald, James, John Dhu, John More, George, Dugald, William, Alexander, Duncan and Allan".
